Big Announcement!

Before we begin, I have a big announcement! There will be many new additions coming to Creative Journey, and I’m excited to share that one of those goals has officially been accomplished with the Grand Opening of the Creative Journey Store! The store is just getting started, and there is so much more to come.

The Knowing Jesus Bible Study Guide, along with matching devotional resources and printables, is now available. Each resource was thoughtfully created to encourage believers to spend meaningful time in Scripture, grow in their faith, and develop a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ, whether you are a seasoned Christian or just beginning your walk with Him.

Thank you to everyone who has supported, encouraged, and followed along throughout this journey. I will continue praying for God to lead and direct me in what I share here.

Lately, I’ve felt led to pursue a more purpose-driven life — not only in my Christian walk, but also as a wife, mom, and soon-to-be grandmother. I work full-time, but I believe living a wholesome and intentional life is still possible. With thoughtful planning and God’s guidance, I’m looking forward to rebuilding the homemaker rhythms that mean so much to me.

I’d love for you to join me on this journey as I discover ways to cultivate a homemade and Christ-centered life while balancing full-time work and everyday responsibilities.

Wise Man Built His House On A Rock

Key Verses of Discussion

Matthew 7:24-29

Proverbs 3:5-6

If you’re joining me today, I’m so glad you’re here. Take a moment to settle in—grab a fresh, hot cup of coffee or tea, your Bible, and maybe a notebook—and let’s spend some intentional time in God’s Word together.

In the last devotion, we learned about false prophets in our Beatitudes Bible Study Series. We continue with the Sermon on the Mount with a warning that not all who call out to God will enter into heaven. What is the one thing we can know we have our name written in the Lamb’s Book of Life before we take our last breath and enter into eternity?

If you missed the last devotion, you can find it here: Beatitudes Series Part 16.

As we continue our study of the Beatitudes, there is so much to unpack. We’re taking this journey slowly and intentionally, because even a few verses can hold deep wisdom and truth. Studying the Bible isn’t about rushing to the finish—it’s about growing, understanding, and drawing closer to God with each step.

Let’s continue walking through this Beatitudes Bible Study together, learning what Jesus teaches and applying His truth to our daily lives.

“I will like him unto a wise man”

Matthew 7:24-25

“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house: and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.” Matthew 7:24-25

Whosoever Hears and Does

The last devotion we discussed the dangers of professing to be a Christian born again but not having faith. This is a copy-and-paste mentality that is dangerous to have. Without faith in believing the Lord Jesus Christ is the Son of God and has forgiven you of your sins, there’s no true repentance through Salvation. Repeat after me, prayers, do this or that ritual is not what confirms Salvation, but the repentance through faith and believing in Jesus Christ. This is not a one-and-done; to live in Christ, we must have a relationship with Christ, living daily to thrive in His presence and be a witness to others by professing our faith in Him alone, not a church institution, religion, or man. There’s a lot we discussed about false prophets and what true Salvation is. I encourage you to read it if you have not, and return to this devotion; these are in line with one another.

Wise Man

Whosoever, this means anyone in all walks of life, so this gives us a clue that this refers to everyone. In a time when the Pharisees and Sadducees wanted to remain the all-knowing wise men of that time that held the key to knowledge and of God, or so they would have everyone believe, this passage lets us know that anyone can be wise in the ways of God.

Built His House Upon a Rock

Whosoever heareth these sayings of mine and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock.” Matthew 7:24

Not Just Hearers, But Doers

Luke warm Christians, there, I got it out there, the one thing that we all were thinking. To be a Christian, one must walk daily in faith with God. Devotions, reading God’s Word, worship in song while driving are all great, but if we just hear and don’t act or “do” as God would have us to do, then we are just going through the motions. A faith-led life as a Christian is a continuous growth; we should constantly grow in the knowledge of God, to just know who God is, that’s the first step, but to have a relationship with Him as our Heavenly Father, that is an entirely different experience. Satan and the fallen angels believe in God, but they do not worship God; their pride has caused them to fall.

Withstanding The Storm

Storms of life, the trials and challenges we face, are something we know is a part of life. Just as we have seasons throughout the year, we have seasons of life where everything may be still and calm, while others are fast-paced and hectic. Jesus is letting us know that storms will come; this is just part of the fallen, sinful world we live in. Christians are protected because we have a Heavenly Father to guide us and help us through anything life throws our way, but this does not mean living a Christian life will be easy. The one good thing we can take comfort in is that having God while in the storm is far better than navigating it alone. God can see above the raging storm. He knows which direction we need to go, and even when our understanding fails us, we can always turn to God for direction.

“And rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house: and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.” Matthew 7:25

Rain, Flood, and Wind

Jesus uses analogies so we get the idea of his life lessons. Storms represent the challenges we face in life; whether we know they are coming or not, we will experience them. The house represents what our foundation is built on; the house cannot stand without a foundation. We represent the house, but what foundation are we built on? The sand may seem sturdy at times, but when water or wind hits the sand, it can be washed away without effort. Jesus is often likened throughout Scripture to a Rock, a rock is sturdy, solid, and cannot easily be moved. When we think of ourselves representing the house, the foundation should be sturdy to withstand any storm that we may face. The world is always changing, but God is always the same-He is a foundation that we need to focus on building our house upon, our faith.

The House Fell Not

The storms rages, rain fell, floods rose and wind blew, but the house that is built upon a sturdy foundation will not fall. No matter what may come, as long as the foundation of our faith is closely aligned with God, and not of our own strength or knowledge, we will remain standing. There will be trials in our lives that we may never understand, the question, “WHY ME, WHY NOW,” may come to mind, but the real question we should be searching for is “WHICH DIRECTION GOD?” When we stop focusing on the storm and remain steady on God, we can survive the storms of life and end up exactly where God would have us to be. Some storms we face may be losing a loved one, losing our home, a terrible accident… the list goes on, each storm has it’s own strengths and not all are because of a punishment from God.

Life’s Storms

The best time to prepare for life challanges, it’s best to have a mindset on God, no matter the circumstances that we may face. We know they will come, how the storm will rage, when the storm will come are all variable differences, but one thing that remains constant if our faith remains within God’s hands, we will be taken care of according to God’s will. The foundation we have when life is going great and calm is the easy part, but this should remain the same no matter what life challanges may come our way. Decide to day where you stand, so when the time comes when you are questioned, without waivering, you know for certain your faith stand upon Jesus Christ and not of your own strength or foundation.

“And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon the house: and it fell: and great was the fall of it.” Matthew 7:26-27

Hearers Not Doers

Warning for those who don’t obey God, they hear God’s warning, but they don’t do as God instructs them to are like a foolish man. A man who builds his house by the world standards will fall. Be cautious of what you put your faith in. If your faith stands upon a church, religion, priest/preacher, parent, or grandparent and not of God, then the relationship you have is based upon another man’s faith and not of your own. Build YOUR house upon the solid foundation of Jesus Christ and no other institution or man. God is and always remains the same; He never changes. He should be the one upon whom we set our faith, upon and not of ourselves.

“In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Great Was The Fall

This is the fall and destruction of our decisions when an individual does not build their faith upon God; the fall of that individual is great. Not only will they lose their life, but they will lose their soul to eternal damnation. Hell is eternal; it lasts forever. This is not something that anyone should chance. The life we live on earth is but just a short vapor in time; today is the day to make the decision to repent and follow God. When the storm arrives, the preparations are too late. Be prepared today. The coming return of the Lord is closer each day, for many generations we have heard this, but it couldn’t be more true today. Nobody knows the time when Jesus will return, but one question is, are you ready? Have you put your faith in Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior?

“And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at this doctrine: For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.” Matthew 7:28-29

The Sermon On The Mount

When Jesus ended His teachings, the people were amazed because of the wisdom He shared with them, and it was taught differently than what the church leaders of that time had taught. These were lessons of life to put into action, to live according to God’s will and not of a temple or priest. The only authority over man is God, not another man. Where do you stand today? Is your faith built like the wise man or the foolish man? Today is the day to reflect and know where you stand in the eyes of God. If you are unsure, visit The Roman Road Scriptures. For an even more in-depth study, I encourage you to consider the Knowing Jesus Bible Study. I’m in the process of launching the Knowing Jesus course soon, which walks you through the study and brings out even more Scripture.

There are so many resources, but the one true resource to lean upon is the Bible, God’s Holy Word. Be a doer and act upon your faith today, not just a hearer.

Have a Know So Salvation, Know that your life is in God’s hands, our Heavenly Father.

Please join me in prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for giving us another day of life, another opportunity to praise and worship You.

Heavenly Father, I pray You will help guide and direct us daily, and may we take this Bible series we just completed and apply it to our lives. I ask that You guide each one that we may know that our foundation is built firmly upon You and You alone. If there are any who have doubt, may You reveal Scripture and give them peace of mind and assurance that they have salvation through Jesus Christ. May we break free from the bondages that man, society, or religion has put upon us so that we may live with You as our Lord and Savior. Be with those of a broken heart, be with those who may be sick, I pray a special healing upon them in the name of Jesus. I pray that none will go away without knowing You as their Lord and Savior, convict their hearts, and don’t allow rest until they have peace in You, Father. We are not promised today, the importance of Salvation and having a relationship with You, Heavenly Father, is the most important change and decision one could ever make. May we draw closer to You each day, we ask this in Your precious Holy Name, Jesus Christ. Amen.

If you have more questions on what the Bible says about Salvation, there is a small video with Scripture that is called The Roman Road- Map Of Salvation, plus a free printable PDF that has all the Scriptures on one page you can use and print as a reference guide or even to hand out while sharing the gospel message with others.

Quick Note:

Some Bible studies may take longer than others, as I am often led to explain certain verses in greater detail. I want you to know that these blog posts are written straight from my heart - they are not created by AI, so if you pay close attention, you may find my little nuggets of imperfections! What you read here are my own thoughts and reflections, guided by where God leads me.

I am not a professional; I’m simply a southern wife and mother of five with a deep desire to share the truth of our loving Heavenly Father. He loves you, and He longs to have a relationship with you. We are not called to be perfect, but we are called to be led by Him.

God has placed so much on my heart to share, and my prayer is that these words bless and encourage you. I’m not here for recognition or fame - only to spread the message of God’s love to you, my new friend, and to many others.

God be with you!
