Joshua 1:9-11

“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. (10) Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying, (11) Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD you God giveth you to possess it.”

What an amazing moment in history! God had used Moses to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt, delivering them from bondage. After 40 years of wandering in the wilderness, Moses had died, and now Joshua had been chosen as his successor to lead God’s people into the Promised Land.

Joshua’s task was enormous. He was to guide the Israelites into an unknown land, a land God promised them in verse 3, saying that every place their foot touched would be theirs. Imagine the weight of that responsibility- leading an entire nation into unfamiliar territory!

If you continue to read Joshua, you will find that God’s timing was perfect, and the wait was worth it. This also allowed time for the news of God’s greatness to be heard across many nations, which spread fear across the land.

Have you been tasked with something God asked you to do that felt overwhelming-maybe even impossible?

It can feel unsettling when a big task lies ahead. But take heart: if God called you to it, He didn’t make a mistake choosing you.

We may question if God picked the right person for the job-especially when the timing seems inconvenient or when the details feel uncertain. How will this work out? Will I have the resources? What if I fail? The doubts pile up: But this…but that…and what if…?

Stop right there. Take a breath.

GOD asked YOU.

And if God asks you, He will equip you. He will give you everything needed to accomplish what He has called you to do. God’s timing is always perfect-even when we can’t see it yet. Keep moving forward, step by step, holding on to faith. One day, when you look back, you’ll realize His timing couldn’t have been more perfect.

Think of it like this: God hands us a paintbrush and asks us to paint while blindfolded. We can’t see the picture yet, but as we trust His guiding hand, stroke by stroke, He creates the most beautiful masterpiece. That’s the power of blind faith in a faithful God.

When God asks, God provides. He never calls us to something without equipping us for it. Our part is simple: take the leap of faith-one step, one day at a time-and stay close to Him for guidance and confirmation along the way.

Notice something about Joshua: he didn’t ask God how the Israelites would cross the Jordan River. Instead, he took the first step and began preparing the people to move.

The same is true for us. Whether God calls us to something big or small, His blessing follows faith and obedience. Trust His timing and move forward courageously.

Every brush stroke leads to a great masterpiece.

This week’s challenge:

Whatever challenges you face, trust that God will help you through them. Trust His timing, have faith, and boldly follow His lead.

Pray and ask God to present an opportunity for you to help someone this week- perhaps a coworker, a family member, or even a stranger. Ask Him to open a door for you to share the message of salvation with them, or even be there to help them in some way.

Imagine the impact if each of us shared the gospel with just one person this week!

Let us come together for a quick blessing for this week:

Heavenly Father,

We ask for forgiveness of sins, and ask that we may do better by the examples that You have set before us in Your word, the Bible. We ask that You would strengthen our faith and trust in You more, especially the tasks that You ask of us, rather they be small or big. We know that You have a plan, that we may not always see or understand Your timing or Your ways, but we know Your ways are always good and perfect. May we be sensitive enough to seek out the opportunities presented to us this week to share the message of salvation through Jesus Christ. I pray that those who are reading this will be blessed with an extra measure of faith, hope, and obedience to You, Father. May they recieve a blessing that only You would make possible for them. We ask this in Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
