Ephesians 6:10-13

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

Have you ever had one of those days where one bad thing happens, and you tell yourself, “That’s okay, the rest of the day will be better”—but then something else goes wrong… and then another, like dominoes falling one after the other?

Did you know that’s often a sign of something deeper? These moments aren’t always just random bad luck. Sometimes, God allows lessons or even loving correction to get our attention. But more often than not, what you’re experiencing is spiritual warfare.

When these negative occurrences happen, we get frustrated, and we end up saying or doing things that we later regret.

Why me? Why now? Why today?

If you are a child of God, born again through the Salvation of Jesus Christ, know that you belong to God. If satan can discourage you to the point of tarnishing your testimony of a Christian reflected life, he will.

Satan no longer has a hold on us, but we will continue to fight the demons of sin and temptations that satan knows we may be weak to. Remember that Jesus has experienced the temptation of sin; He taught us how to fight against the devil. You can read about this in the Overcoming Temptation Devotional.

How do we combat these spiritual attacks?

My friend, let me encourage you today. It happens to all of us! Sometimes it’s worse than other times, but let us be encouraged by what we can get from Paul, who wrote a letter to the church in Ephesians.

Be strong IN THE LORD, and in the power of HIS MIGHT. We don’t have to be strong in our own might, but when we stay connected with God from the time we wake up, we start our day with Him. We invite Him to be present with us throughout our day. He will fight our battles for us.

Paul continues to teach us on how to combat these spiritual attacks-” Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

He continues to remind us of what battles we face, the wickedness in the world. Remember the battle is not ours, but God’s. We are awakened to the spiritual world around us, and we are to face these times with God’s Might and not our own abilities or knowledge.

“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

This week’s challenge:

Each day this week, wake up and put on the Full Armour of God. Wake with thanksgiving in your heart, lay all burdens down at His feet. Rise strong and read Ephesians 6:10-18 and claim the promises of God.

Remember whatever you may face today, be reassured of WHO you belong to, reflect on the day of your salvation, and that God created this world. Our strength alone cannot overcome the spiritual battles we face. Only Almighty God’s power can defeat satan.

1 Peter 5:8-11 -” Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish strength, settle you. To Him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.”

Be prepared for the day ahead.

Allow God to fight the spiritual battles on your behalf.

Let us come together for a quick blessing for this week:

Heavenly Father,

We thank You for preserving Your Word, to help us with spiritual battles that we may face. We ask that You would be with us each day, to strengthen our knowledge of Your Word and write the contents in our hearts and minds. May You be with each one that has joined me in this devotion, that we may all apply the Full Armour of God each day. That's what battles we may face, we know that You are in control, with You all things are possible. Even the smallest needs are known by You, be with us each day this week and every day. May we be strong in Your promises so we may be a reflection of You more each day. Forgive us for our shortcomings, may You help strengthen us where we are weak, guide us when we get discouraged, and be the light unto our path. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

May God be with you, my friend in Christ!
