Verse 10: “Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.”
What is the meaning of virtue?

Conforming to the moral or divine law; as a virtuous action; a virtuous life.

In Proverbs 31, the author asks, “Who can find a virtuous woman?” and then goes on to describe the many qualities of such a woman throughout the remainder of the chapter. The book of Proverbs is known for its wisdom, and this passage can be looked at from two perspectives:
1. A guide for a young man in what to look for in a potential wife
2. A Godly vistion for women and young ladies to strive towards
The verse says her “price is far above rubies.” In modern times, we use machines to dig for precious gems, but in ancient times, mining rubies was a labourious and extremely rare- making them incredibly valuable. That’s the image being conveyed: a virtuous woman is priceless.

Verse 11 “The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.”
The passage continues, showing how the virtuous woman brings peace, stability, and confidence to her home. She honors her husband, manages her household wisely, and raises her children in God’s ways. She is cherished by her family because they adore and respect her.
Becoming a virtuous woman doesn’t happen overnight. It requires time, intention, and the daily practice of surrendering to God’s guidance. For many Christian women, this may feel overwhelming, especially if they didn’t grow up witnessing these qualities firsthand. But here is the encouragement: God is the one who refines us.
Don’t compare yourself to others. We are all in different stages of refining, just like a ruby being shaped and polished.
I came to know Christ as my Savior in my mid-twenties. I was already married and had children. I couldn’t go back and start over from the beginning as a Christian wife and mother, even though that would have seemed ideal. But this journey-this process- is part of God’s divine plan. He takes the rough edges of our lives and slowly refines them.
We aren’t given redo’s but we are given a renewal to make each day that is given to us and an opportunity to walk in God’s light.
As we trust in His refining process, we draw closer to becoming the virtuous woman He desires us to be. This becomes our testimony- a visible undeniable transformation that brings God glory.
Final thought…
Take time to read Proverbs 31: 10-31. As you read, pray, and ask God to reveal at least one area you can work on or improve in your life. Be patient and honest with yourself. This is a new beginning- a daily renewal.
Choose just one or two qualities to focus on each day. If you stumble, pick up the pieces, learn from them, and keep going. You will grow stronger through each step of obedience. Ask God to guide you and show you practical ways to grow. He desires to walk with you into a more joyful, purpose-filled life.
He is our Heavenly Father. God loves you just as you are.
Remember, as Christians, we are in a constant renewal of our faith. Each day we draw closer to God, we don’t have to earn His love-He already loves you just as you are today. The same is true for Salvation- it is not earned, it is believed and accepted by faith.

Heavenly Father, we come to You united in prayer to lift one another. May You bless the person who is praying along, may they have an amazing week full of blessings. I ask that You help us to be a virtuous Christian, to find ways we can diligently work on our everyday walk by shining brighter each day. We pray for our families, communities, our first responders, military, and political officials. We ask that You guide our leaders, may they be guided by You. We thank You for giving us another opportunity to worship You, may You help us this week, taking one day at a time, guide and direct our words and actions.
In Jesus’ precious name we pray, Amen.
