1 Corinthians 2:12
“Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.”
Knowing God’s Spirit
Discern the spirit. When we have ideas or thoughts, we must be careful to know if they’re coming from God or from the world. We must guard our minds, hearts, and spirits from what we allow into our lives.
When we have a direction from God, we are not insulting God by asking Him to verify what He has told us. We must be sure without a doubt that it’s not of our own will or wants, but those of God.
Walking by Faith
Walking by Faith and not by sight. God’s wisdom is beyond man’s comprehension. We must learn to hear God’s voice above all others. Be cautious about who we surround ourselves with and the company we keep. Others may judge that what we do is foolish, but if we are aligned with God’s will, we are wise.
Remembering Noah
God told Noah to build an ark so great that it would house 2 of each kind of animal. He was mocked and ridiculed by so many, but he continued building as God instructed him to. Noah followed by faith, not knowing or understanding the need for such a great ship that no man had ever seen before then. Noah walked by faith; his faith was strong enough that his family also helped and followed his lead.
Let us be sure those who shadow us are not seeing our mighty will, but the evidence of us walking by faith.
Tribulations
When a Christian follows closely to God closely, temptations will come. Be strong and encouraged to stick closer to God when those trials come; the trial may not be for you, but for those who are watching you, Christian walk.
God uses our testimony to teach those who may not know Him. By seeing an example of Jesus’ light shine through you, they will be drawn to Him. Let us not become a stumbling block to our brethren/children; let us be faithful in and out of season.
When it’s not popular with others, let us still stand with God. Let us finish the race, and not be ashamed when that faithful day we meet Jesus face to face. Let us do all to stand for the Kingdom of heaven and shine a light by Faith in this turbulent time.
This week’s challenge:
Let us examine and reflect on this week’s verse, asking these questions to be sure we are aligned with God’s path for our lives.
Examine our walk with the Lord journaling prompts:
Where do you stand today?
Are you allowing God’s light to shine through your actions?
How is your path? The path you set behind you, is it straight or windy?
If I could add one thing to my daily routine to grow closer to God, what would that be?
What are ways I can reflect God’s light in my work/school, home, or family?
Remember, God doesn’t expect perfection from us; He expects our faithfulness in Him.
Let us come together for a quick blessing for this week:
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for this day, this devotion, weekly reflection, and other devotions to come. We ask You will help us to discern from Your Spirit, to the world, that we may recognize Your Spirit and confirm in the things You lead us to do.
We ask that You be with the victims from this past week and those who have lost loved ones. We know evil is among us, and so many are influenced by demonic spirits. We ask that You be with them and may they come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Please be with those who need You, for You are The Great Physician in healing spiritually and physically.
May You guide each of us to set a path behind us so that others may see the light of Christ Jesus’ Salvation and long for Your guidance in their lives, allowing us to be a vessel of Your light in a dark and sinful world. May Your Faithfulness lead us even through tribulations. We ask this in Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
May God be with you, my friend in Christ!
